Coalition Updates 10/28 2025

Hello Everyone,

The core group has been hard at work, and we’d like to share some updates since our broader meeting a little over a month ago. We’ve received a wealth of valuable information and ideas from many of you—thank you sincerely for your engagement and support. To those who have already contributed to the Coalition, our deepest thanks—your generosity has allowed us to secure legal consultation. However, we anticipate that additional funds will be needed as we move forward. If you feel strongly about this cause and are able to contribute, your support will help us build the strongest possible case to protect our neighborhood. All contributions are pro rata.

Our goal remains firm: to ensure there is no access to Hillcamp / Mesa Top through McArthur Drive. We’ve confirmed that Douglas County intends to approve emergency access only. However, the developer has already stated in their application to the City of Lone Tree that while they will initially seek only emergency access, they plan to work with the County in the future to open McArthur Drive for full access. The road, as it stands, also requires major improvements to even serve as viable emergency access. We must make sure that access through McArthur Drive is restricted for the long term—ideally, permanently—so we don’t find ourselves fighting this same battle again in a few years.

Key Updates

  1. Legal Representation

After reaching out to and screening several law firms, we’ve selected one of the top firms in Colorado. We are finalizing the engagement documents this week. This process took time to ensure the firm had the right expertise and no conflicts of interest.

  2. Next Steps with Legal Counsel

The core team will meet early next week to prepare materials for our attorneys and determine the best legal strategy.

To keep costs efficient, all communication with the law firm will go through the Coalition.

If you have information, documents, or ideas that may be relevant, please email us at McArthurDriveCoalition@gmail.com.

  3. Coalition Status and Contributions

The Coalition is now officially recognized as an entity by the State of Colorado, and our financial account is open. In addition to checks dropped off to Susan Tillman 476 McArthur Drive and made out to McArthur Drive Coalition. We can now accept electronic contributions through Venmo and Zelle. Please include your address in the comments so that if we have access funds they can be returned pro rata.

  4. Neighborhood Signs

You may have seen our new signs around the neighborhood! If you’d like to order one, please contact us McArthurDriveCoalition@gmail.com. Signs are $6 each.

  5. Community and Safety Advocacy

Coalition members recently met with representatives from the high school, and Principal Andy Abner shares our concerns about student safety—especially for those crossing the busy intersection and for new, inexperienced drivers.

One of our neighbors also located a Douglas County Transportation Plan document identifying the McArthur Drive / Monarch Blvd intersection as critical due to high traffic volumes, which means it already requires attention and improvements.

Additional Note

A broader petition from the Stop Hillcamp group is circulating. While their goal—to stop the overall development—is outside our immediate scope, it never hurts to show community disapproval of the project as a whole. https://www.change.org/p/save-the-lone-tree-bluffs-from-development-before-they-re-gone-forever-1584af0e-d34c-4537-8f5f-3e21bb0142e9?source_location=search

Thank you all for your continued commitment and support. Every contribution, email, and conversation helps strengthen our position and preserve the safety and character of our neighborhood.

Warm regards,The McArthur Drive Coalition Team
