Hillcamp Development is in referral - public comments due by Feb 10th.

Lone Tree Referral Process
The Hillcamp development has entered the referral process, which runs through February 10. This is a critical opportunity for residents to submit formal comments before the City of Lone Tree makes binding decisions.
Comments submitted during referral become part of the official record reviewed by City staff, the Planning Commission, and City Council. As the process advances, it becomes much harder to introduce new concerns—this is one of the most important stages for public input.

What Is the Referral Process?
Referral is the City’s formal request for comments on development applications from agencies, HOAs, and the public. It matters because:
-
Comments are reviewed by decision-makers
-
Issues raised now must be addressed by the applicant
-
Concerns not raised during referral are difficult to add later
-

Applications Open for Comment (4 Total)
There are four Hillcamp applications currently under referral. We are focused on Hillcamp Southridge Preserve Preliminary Plan (includes McArthur Drive), but submitting comments across applications helps establish a consistent record of concern.

The applications are available here and the form to submit comments before February 10th.

Call to Action
Your comments matter and make a difference
The Coalition has collaborated closely with the developer and legal counsel to formalize the status of McArthur Drive. The updated application now explicitly designates McArthur Drive as permanent unpaved Emergency Vehicle Access (EVA) only, removing previous language that suggested it could eventually open to general traffic. This is critical because we must override the 2004 Planned Development District language that states McArthur Drive will become an emergency exit and once paved an open road.

Please submit a comment to show the community support of permanent EVA Only and strengthen our stance — brief comments are fine, but personalized comments are most effective. Suggested points include:

-
Support the current proposal designating McArthur Drive as a permanent, unpaved EVA-only road
-
Request that two locked gates be formally documented for McArthur Drive’s EVA access, with at least one gate installed prior to the start of construction. While this has been discussed, it is not yet documented consistently in throughout the current application

Designating McArthur Drive as Permanent Unpaved EVA Only supports our:
-
Safety concerns at McArthur Ranch Road and Monarch, a key crossing for children and new drivers, with a history of accidents and significant traffic at school drop off and pickup.
-
Preservation of the rural lifestyle used by families and individuals for recreation
-
Equestrian traffic, which is common in the area and incompatible with increased vehicle use.
-
Wildlife protection through limiting auto traffic

Deadline: February 10, 2026
Comments submitted before the deadline are formally considered; late comments may not be.
